ASICS developers and the Kiko Kostadninov Studio were inspired by various jogging shoes in our archive to create the UN1-S JOGGER X81™ sneaker. ​

The upper references details from the TIGER PAW™ X1, SORTIE™ LYTE, GONA™, and X-CALIBER™ shoes. These 1980s influences are make-shifted together with modern materials to form a true past meets present design.​

For the midsole, we took inspiration from the TIGER ARROW shoe’s cushioning structure. By updating this technology with larger holes on the outside and smaller holes on the inside, the shoe offers better cushioning and stability.​

Meanwhile, the outsole references the HONOLULU shoe’s tooling. Its unique design emulates a Hawaiian volcano’s concave shape to help prevent soil from getting stuck in the tread.
